The Mule Deer Foundation is seeking an engaged and enthusiastic individual who loves mule deer, conservation, and event planning to serve as our new Regional Director for South Dakota and Nebraska.

Position Overview:
The South Dakota/Nebraska Regional Director for the Mule Deer Foundation (MDF) is responsible for organizing local volunteer chapters that conduct fundraising events and conservation projects that support the conservation of mule deer and their habitats. This role also involves representing the organization with various state and federal agencies, engaging in conservation projects, and ensuring compliance with financial policies. The position requires a strong understanding of MDF’s programs and a commitment to wildlife conservation. Salary will be a combination of base pay and incentives. 

Qualifications:

  • Passion for the conservation of mule deer and commitment to MDF’s mission.
  • Strong understanding of MDF’s programs and a commitment to the conservation of mule deer and their habitats. 
  • Experience in non-profit fundraising or strong sales/customer service experience is preferred. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and social media platforms. 
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. 
  • Experience supervising/working with volunteers or teams. 
  • Must be an resident of South Dakota/Nebraska or willing to relocate.

Responsibilities:

  • Represent the organization with various state and federal agencies and engage in conservation projects, ensuring compliance with financial policies. 
  • Prepare annual budget projections. Maintaining consistent growth from year to year. 
  • Develop, organize, train, and guide volunteers in the planning and execution successful fundraising and conservation events. 
  • Work closely with volunteers to ensure effective event planning and reporting. 
  • Complete and submit all forms and reports both accurately and punctually. 
  • Engage with volunteer leadership to recognize volunteer efforts and expand MDF’s presence. 
  • Stay informed about current issues in wildlife conservation and share knowledge with members and supporters. 
  • Leverage media platforms to promote MDF’s goals and accomplishments. 
  • Submit updates for the MDF member magazine, social media posts, website articles, etc. 
  • Lead or assist in conservation project efforts and recommend strategic projects for funding. 
  • Collaborate and work cooperatively with other staff both internally and externally. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
