Karina Puikkonen – Conservation Content Specialist

Karina Puikkonen (pronounced P-we-kōnen) is a first-generation American with 100% Finnish roots. A lifelong connection to nature and conservation has shaped both her personal journey and professional path. With a background in zoology and conservation biology, Karina launched her career as a seasonal employee with the National Park Service, spending her off seasons traveling and volunteering across more than 25 countries. Her passion for science and conservation storytelling led her to pursue advanced degrees in communications and create multimedia content for government agencies, universities, and nonprofits. After many years working in Colorado, Karina now calls Utah home, where she continues to explore wild places across the West —camera in hand and her rescue dog Tippy by her side.
