Haystack Dirt Tank Redevelopment Project
The Mule Deer Foundation is the only conservation group in…
I wanted to share the recent results of the Haystack dirt tank redevelopment project. This project is on the O bar C Ranch in Tonto Basin. Every summer, O bar C ranchers Teri Cline and her brother Lonnie have hauled water for the areas wildlife, until now. As this part of the ranch was devoid of any perennial water, this project will be great benefit to not only the Mule Deer but to all the desert animals. This is a prime example of how the Mule Deer Foundation is funding critical conservation projects, through the Chapters Rewards Program. A special “Thank You” to our valued volunteers, MDF, AZGFD, Black Mountain Excavating and the O bar C Ranch for their combined efforts.

The Mule Deer Foundation is the only conservation group in North America dedicated to restoring, improving and protecting mule deer and black-tailed deer and their habitat, with a focus on science and program efficiency. MDF is a strong voice for hunters in access, wildlife management and conservation policy issues. MDF acknowledges regulated hunting as a viable management component and is committed to recruitment and retention of youth into the shooting sports and conservation.
