Evan DeHamer – Regional Conservation Coordinator – UT & ID

Evan DeHamer – Regional Conservation Coordinator

Evan was raised in southern Idaho, with ample opportunitiy to stomp around mule deer country, from the Owyhees to the Salmon River, before serving for six years in the U.S. Air Force as a linguist and intelligence analyst. Faced with high likelihood of being kept in East during a reenlistment, he decided to shift careers back towards the Intermountain West and wildlife. Evan earned a B.S. in Wildlife Management from Eastern Kentucky University and has worked seasonal research positions from Tennessee to Wrangell, AK. Evan began to focus on habitat as a partner biologist with IDFG’s Mule Deer Initiative, working with private landowners & government agencies in Southeast Idaho. He then moved north to manage two Wildlife Management Areas in the Idaho Panhandle, and most recently oversaw the large-scale Clark Fork River Delta Restoration project. He’s excited to join the MDF staff and get good work done for mule deer and the folks who love them.
