Casey Nordine – Dakota Grasslands Habitat Partnership Coordinator

Raised in the Black Hills of South Dakota, Casey was exposed to the outdoor lifestyle at a young age, tagging along at deer camp long before being old enough to carry a rifle. His now 20+ years of hunting and fishing experience is heavily influenced by years of chasing mule deer across the rolling hills of the Great Plains. In adulthood his passion for the outdoors transitioned into a love of wildlife, wild places, and wild food. Professionally, Casey spent 8 years running a startup microbrewery, wearing many hats, including the facilitation of large festivals and fundraisers. Motivated by the community partnerships he developed during his time running the brewery, he began volunteering as a firefighter and first responder in 2018. In 2021 he accepted an executive board position with the wild-food-focused organization Harvesting Nature. Along with other responsibilities in this role, he helps lead field-to fork hunt camps that focus on teaching the skills needed to hunt, butcher, process, and cook your own wild meat. Casey looks forward to utilizing his diverse and varied experience in continuing the science-based and conservation-minded mission of MDF.
