Greg Sheehan brings over 20 years of leadership experience in habitat and wildlife conservation to his role as President and CEO of the Mule Deer Foundation (MDF). Formerly the Utah State Director of the Bureau of Land Management, Sheehan managed millions of acres of public lands and worked closely with diverse stakeholders to develop effective land management strategies.
His previous roles include Director of the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources and Director of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, where he led significant achievements in wildlife restoration and habitat conservation. Among his notable successes is increasing Utah’s mule deer population by more than 100,000 through innovative habitat restoration, predator management, and strategic translocation programs.
A lifelong hunter and dedicated conservationist, Greg is passionate about reversing the decline of mule deer populations across the West. His collaborative approach and proven ability to build partnerships with government agencies, industry, tribes, and nonprofits position him to lead MDF into a new era of growth and impact.
