Meet MDF Regional Director Marshall Johnson and OSU Mule Deer Study coordinator, Colter Chitwood, to learn about the mule deer study in Western Oklahoma, the Mule Deer Foundation and how a chapter in Tulsa can help the mule deer in Oklahoma.

The Mule Deer Foundation is looking at starting chapters in Oklahoma to help support the mule deer study being conducted in western Oklahoma. Through this study we will also find opportunities for habitat work as well. In 2023-2024, OSU, with the support of ODWC and MDF, started conducting a mule deer study to really find out how many mule deer are in Oklahoma, assess their movement and ranges, their demography, assess fawn recruitment and survival and to quantify population trajectory. This is really exciting for folks in Oklahoma as many that I have spoken to were totally unaware that there were mule deer in the state!
