Promise

The Mule Deer Foundation is the only conservation group in North America dedicated to restoring, improving, and protecting mule deer and black-tailed deer and their habitat, with a focus on science and program efficiency. Our conservation programs combined with our grassroots support are the foundation of who we are as an organization.

Our vision is to unite deer, people, landscapes for the betterment of habitat, communities and our way of life.

Role in public access

Our conservation efforts are delivered through efforts by MDF staff and in partnership with state and federal agencies as well as other non-profit organizations.

MDF is also a strong voice for public access, wildlife management, and conservation policy issues. We support regulated hunting as a viable component to wildlife management and we are committed to mentoring the next generation of sportsmen and women into the traditions of hunting, shooting sports, and conservation.

Connected by Conservation

Connected by Conservation represents a meticulously crafted strategy by the Mule Deer Foundation, focused on the pivotal conservation of mule deer, black-tailed deer, and their habitats. This initiative is a testament to the symbiotic relationship between wildlife populations, their natural environments, and the human communities that share these spaces.

MDF is set to spotlight four pivotal narratives under the CBC initiative:

  • Connecting People: Fostering a community united by a shared commitment to conservation.
  • Connecting Landscapes: Ensuring the continuity and health of ecosystems through strategic conservation efforts.
  • Connecting Herds: Safeguarding the genetic diversity and vitality of wildlife populations.
  • Connecting to the Wild: Encouraging deeper engagement and appreciation for the natural world.
