Suggestions and contributions are welcome, though the Mule Deer Foundation and MDF magazine cannot assume responsibility for unsolicited materials.

We encourage our members to submit hunting stories and their photos. If you have a story you would like to see in the MDF magazine or on our website.

Please email your intent, ideas or suggestions to We have staff that can help turn your story into an great article. Please send them over!

All digital photography needs to be submitted in the full-resolution and unprocessed state. By unprocessed, we simply mean no cropping, no color-correcting, especially no down-sizing, no altering of the photo in any way. Basically, from the camera to us, as it was taken.

Send high-resolution images via e-mail or on a CD or DVD. Photos may also be posted to an FTP site or via “We Transfer”

Be sure to include name(s), date, location and other important information about the photo. If necessary, you are responsible for obtaining permission to publish from the people who appear in your photos.

We will assume CDs need not be returned, unless otherwise indicated. If you would like your submission returned, please include a self-addressed, stamped envelope with enough postage to return. We cannot be responsible for lost or misdirected mail.

Mule Deer Foundation pays for some, but not all, of the material published depending on need, nature, and quality of the submission.

Create and finalize your video, making sure you do not use copyrighted material or material used without permission of the owner (or the people in your video).

The following formats are acceptable: most digital camera formats and camcorders and cell phones in .AVI, .MOV and .MPG file formats.

Once you edit your video (if desired), make sure it’s smaller than 2GB in size, in an acceptable file format, and less than 15 minutes long.

Once these things are in order, you are ready to upload:

  1. Create an account with YouTube with a confirmed e-mail address.
  2. Click the “Upload” button in the upper-right-hand corner of any YouTube page.
  3. Enter as much information about your video as possible, including Title, Description, Tags and Category.
  4. Set your video to Public, so MDF can access it.
  5. Set your video to allow other sites to embed your video so MDF can embed it into our Web site.
  6. Click the “Upload a Video…” button.
  7. In the next window, click the “Browse” button to browse for the video file. Select the file you want to upload.
  8. Click the “Upload Video” button (this can take several minutes to complete).
  9. Copy and paste the YouTube link for your video and send it with pertinent information to the MDF Webmaster.

If you have more questions on how to upload your video, please see the YouTube submission guide:
