Albuquerque Hunter Drawn for the New Mexico Lt. Governor’s Deer Enhancement License
Salt Lake City, Utah: The Mule Deer Foundation (MDF) announced today that Robert Polka of Albuquerque, NM won the raffle drawing for the New Mexico Lt. Governor’s Deer Enhancement License.
New Mexico has had an active mule deer conservation program for many years working to restore habitat and rebuild populations of this iconic game species. Funds generated from this raffle have been used to support projects consistent with MDF’s mission in New Mexico, benefiting mule deer herds across the state. Habitat improvement projects currently planned will include removal of encroaching pinon pine and juniper trees, development of water resources and guzzlers, and continuation of the successful deer relocation program.
The Mule Deer Foundation works closely with the New Mexico Game and Fish Department to administer the raffle drawing. “The Mule Deer Foundation appreciates the opportunity to partner with New Mexico Game and Fish Department on offering this mule deer tag to raise much needed funds for mule deer,” says Miles Moretti, MDF President/CEO. “The funding allows the New Mexico Game and Fish Department and MDF to fund projects which benefit mule deer. MDF is able to promote tags such as this one across the country through our vast network of contacts with hunters,” continued Moretti.
“We are thrilled with the support from ticket buyers and to have the opportunity to work with New Mexico’s Game and Fish Department on the Lt. Governor’s Enhancement License raffle,” noted Colleen Payne, MDF’s regional director for the state of New Mexico. “These programs are a unique way for state agencies to raise revenues for their mule deer conservation efforts and to allow lucky hunters the opportunity to hunt throughout the state for some of our great mule deer. Thanks to continued support from ticket buyers, we have again reached record numbers this year in our raffle.”
