Job Summary:
Field Operations is the primary fundraising structure of the Mule Deer Foundation (MDF). Regional Directors organize local volunteer chapters to hold fundraising events, principally banquets, to support the continued operation of MDF, as well as mule deer, black-tailed deer and other wildlife conservation projects. Although primarily a fundraising position, Regional Directors have a good working knowledge of mule deer (black-tailed deer) and their habitat.

Essential Functions:
- Form and retain MDF fundraising chapter committees comprised of local volunteers.
- Organize, guide and assist chapter committees with the planning, organization and execution of successful fundraising events, primarily banquets, to meet annual budget projections.
- Actively utilize State Chairs and key MDF volunteers to assist in the identification and formation of new chapters and planning and execution of fundraising events.
- Ensure volunteer compliance with MDF financial policies, operating and reporting procedures.
- Enlist new members and volunteers to MDF.
- Promote MDF programs (i.e. membership, sponsor membership, life membership, conservation partnership, endowment).
- Support national convention efforts working with headquarters staff, volunteers, vendors and donors. Seek sponsorships for convention activities.
- Prepare annual fundraising income projections and operating expense budget proposals to be approved by the Director of Field Operations.
- Maintain liaison and professional visibility with state wildlife agencies, federal wildlife and land management agencies, university wildlife departments, non-governmental conservation organizations, sportsmen’s groups, local media and outfitter/guide associations within assigned region.
- Serve as chair/co-chair of MDF Project Review Committee (PRC) and Chapter Rewards program with volunteer State Chair, within assigned region to coordinate the recommendation of specific conservation projects for MDF funding.
- Promote the goals, objectives and accomplishments of MDF through the media and public speaking engagements.
- Represent MDF at various meetings, functions and public relations opportunities as assigned.
- Submit news items concerning MDF activities to the MDF publications, Web site and regional media.
- In consultation with headquarters, answer sensitive correspondence about MDF activities, programs and positions within assigned region.
- Maintain all records and submit reports as required by the Director of Field Operations.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word and Excel).
- Keep Director of Field Operations fully informed on all pertinent matters within assigned region.
Specific Duties:
- Submit new or revised chapter charters to HQ immediately upon signing of a new chapter or upon any revisions to an existing charter.
- Submit Event Advisory immediately upon the selection of a banquet/fundraising event date by the chapter.
- Submit Banquet Support Order to HQ twelve weeks prior to the banquet/fundraising event date.
- Submit the chapter MDF merchandise order to the merchandise department a minimum of 12 weeks prior to the banquet/fundraising event.
- Work with the committee to submit the preliminary financial package within 3 days (72 Hrs) after the banquet/fundraiser.
- Work with the committee to submit the final financial package within 45 days after the banquet/fundraiser.
- Ensure that chapter bank statements are being sent/received at MDF HQ.
- Attend sportshows (e.g. ISE) and other functions to promote MDF and enlist new members and volunteers.
- Regional Directors, along with their State Chairs, will serve as the chair/co-chair of their respective Project Review Committee(s) (PRCs) and the Chapter Rewards program in their region, from which conservation project recommendations are made for MDF funding.
- Work with the chapters/committees to maximize mission accomplishment via the Chapter Rewards program.
- Solicit articles for MDF Magazine and submit a bi-monthly report to the Director of Field Operations for inclusion in the magazine and posting on the MDF website.
- Submit weekly reports to Director of Field Operations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Physical Demands:
Extensive travel is required. Must be able to work any day of the week, including Saturdays and Sundays. Must be able to work late at night (often until after midnight). Must be capable of sitting for long periods in a car or on an airplane. Must be able to work at a computer terminal for extended periods, stand for intervals of two to six hours and lift heavy items.
